What is more relevant is that the two sides will realise that the winner of this game could end up going through to the finals of the tournament as well.
India should go into the game unchanged from their previous win against Sri Lanka. They had floundered earlier with the bat, but Virender Sehwag’s 99 saw them through to the win. What would have been more interesting from captain MS Dhoni’s point of view is that the bowling came together well and restricted the opposition to only 170 – the cornerstone of their win.
Suraj Randiv would have served his one-match ban and will look to come out against the Indians, but he will know that the Indians will come out harder at him. With Sangakkara having criticised Sehwag and the BCCI for their behaviour, it will be interesting to see how the two teams shape in a game that should go down to the wire.
